Cast silver base with shellwork and lion mascarons supporting a near-cylindrical cup with moulded rim, decorated with mauresque etched decor. Etched with the arms of alliance of the von Fürnberger and von Kern families on the underside, dated 1608. H 8.3 cm, weight 198 g.
Nuremberg, marks attributed to Nicolaus Ulrich, 1603 – 1609.

This maker’s mark was used in variations by different members of the Ulrich family at the end of the 16th and beginning of the 17th century. With regard to the hallmark, an attribution of the cup to Nicolaus Ulrich is the most obvious.
