A Nuremberg silver gilt emblematic beaker
Nuremberg 1609 – 1629.

H 8,4 cm, weight 112 g.

 

The body engraved with 1. a depiction of Hercules, inscribed “HVNC QVANDO SEQVERE IVVABIT” , 2 a castle in flames, inscribed “SVRGIT MAGE FLAMMA REPRESSA” and 3. a palm tree, inscribed “ET SIGVT PALMA VIGESCIT”. Below the emblematic scenes the German translations in verses. Underneath the base a scratched number “N 179”.
