Breslau Coin Lid Tankard

Diameter at the base 10.3 cm, weight 490 g.
Silver, gilded. On a profiled base ring and a foot rim with embossed acanthus, the cylindrical body with volute handle. The wall with embossed foliage between 27 Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel coins of the 17th century worth four Mariengroschen each. The domed hinged lid with divided thumb rest and ten inserted two-groschen coins; on the crown a 12-groschen coin, dated 1675; in the base a 24-groschen coin, dated 1690. Marks: BZ Breslau for 1655 – 1725, MZ IHP (ligature), for Johann (Hans) Petzold (1682 – 1717, cf. Hintze p. 28, 135, and Rosenberg No. 1423), tremolo etching. H 13.4; diameter at the base 10.3 cm, weight 490 g.
