A Parisian silver gilt dessert cutlery in its fitted case

Length of knives 20.2; length of forks 17.5 cm, total weight without knives approx. 2,720 g.

96 pieces. Consisting of 18 forks, spoons and coffee spoons, 18 knives with vermeil blades and 18 with steel blades, as well as four serving spoons and two sugar sprinkling spoons. The knife handles of mother-of-pearl; the handles spade-shaped with threaded decoration. With the exception of the coffee spoons, all pieces bear the conjoined monogram ‘HE’ on the underside of the escutcheon. In a large mahogany case with a bevelled hinged lid; the interior lined with saffiano, the fitted inner dividers with gold braid. Original lock with key. A knife with a steel blade slipped down its compartment some time ago. A small handwritten note is stuck in the slot: “A small knife with a steel blade slipped down.”
