Fine Silver-Gilt Bowl with inset coins of Polish dukes and earls.

The drinking bowl was probably primarily for the consumption of wine or brandy.
As a popular vessel form the low shell especially in the north and east of Europe was widespread: as – bratina and – kowsch in Russia, as – kasa in Scandinavia, and as brandy, or tasting bowl in the rest of Europe.
